Kancheepuram.....A visit

“Ayodhya Madhura Maya Kasi Kanchi Avantika!

Puri Dwarakavathi Saiva Sapthaithate Mokshadaiyeka!”

As explained in the poem, Kanchipuram, in Tamil nadu is one of the Mokshapuris in our Holy land of Bharath. Sakthi worship in India is in three places – Madurai, Varanasi [kashi] and Kanchipuram. Madurai Meenakshi, Kanchi Kamakshi and Kashi Vishalakshi.

The Goddess’s presence in Kancheepuram temple is in 3 forms. They are Sri Kamakshi, Sri Bilahasam and Sri Chakram. The goddess is in a sitting posture of “Padmasana” .The goddess contains Pasa, Angusa, Pushpabana and Sugarcane in her forehands.

The name Kanchi Kamakshi as a whole refers as the god lives in Kanchi with Goddess Saraswati and Goddess Lakshmi as her both eyes. The special occasions for the Goddess Kamakshi are Navratri, Bhramotsavam and Pournami.

The Goddess blesses with unbound wealth to all her devotees. The goddess destroys evil and the pose of the deity that signifies an absolute control over the land under the deity's control.
